Larix decidua (The European Larch) is a conifer full of surprises! It can reach 30m and live for up to 250 years! Larch produce needle-like leaves but are soft. They grow in 'tufts' of many spines growing out from one point, all along its branches. In autumn the leaves turn golden-yellow providing fantastic seasonal colour. Pink, flower-like clusters or scales form and are known as 'larch roses' in autumn, which grow and mature to form cones.
