Magnolia grandiflora 'Gallisoniensis' is an evergreen tree with large, leathery, glossy, green foliage with red-brown, furry undersides, providing interest and structure all year round. It has huge, creamy-white flowers in late summer that have a wonderful lemon scent. The flowers look stunning, contrasting against the dark-green foliage. It will grow as a stand alone tree as a feature or as often seen, growing against a house wall. They need a sheltered position to avoid damage to their foliage throughout the winter. Full sun is ideal, with space to reach up to 5m high by 3m wide within 20 years or so.
