Common Buckthorn (Rhamnus cathartica) makes a fast growing,spiny and bushy native deciduous hedge or occasionally a small tree.It has yellow flowers in May, followed by shining black fruits in Autumn. It is suitable for mixing in a native hedge and likes heavy clay soil and will grow in semi-shade or full sun.
