Native trees are those that colonised the land after the last Ice Age. There are many, many Native trees and if you can plant Native trees, the more the better! Some common species are: Alder, Ash, Beech, Birch, Blackthorn, Bird Cherry, Crab Apple, Dogwood, Elder, Elm, Hawthorn, Hazel, Holly, Hornbeam, Juniper, Lime, Field Maple, Oak, Pear, Scots Pine, Rowan, Spindle, Whitebeam, Willow and Yew.
