Fagus sylvatica atropurpurea (Copper/Purple Beech) makes a hedge with purple leaves. It keeps its purple colour till the Autumn and turns brown in Winter , it only looses its leaves when new foliage arives during Spring. It makes a good screen and performs well as a wind break. It can cope with partial shade. Like green beech (Fagus sylvatica), single plants can be grown to make a large tree.
soil-well drained avoiding heavy clay.
