The Monkey Puzzle Tree (Araucaria araucana) is a unique, distinctive tree with stiff, spiky leaves, that forms tiered branches and can grow up to a height of 30m over its lifetime. It gets its name due to the fact it would puzzle a monkey to climb it! Its architectural shape and texture is ideal as a show piece in a medium-large sized garden. Its common name comes from the mid 1800's when it was noted that due to its spiky leaves it would be a puzzle even to monkeys, to try and climb it.

Plant in full sun or partial shade, in a moist but well-drained soil.It will grow up to 4m high by an equal 4m wide and will tolerate most conditions.
