A native Birch that can reach up to 30m in height and has elegant, dropping branches, bearing yellow leaves in autumn. Not as striking as its whiter cousin pendula, but does have grey-white bark and catkins in spring also. Pubescens has a slightly more upright habit than Pendula. Birch are a vital resource for our insects and seeds are eaten by many of our birds. Will tolerate most conditions.
