The Turkish Hazel is a fantastic choice of tree for urban planting as it is tolerant of pollution and quick to establish deep roots, allowing it to tolerate droughts and waterlogging. It forms a dense canopy of foliage that is pest an disease resistant, providing fantastic structure, height and shade for parks and open spaces or even street planting. In spring it forms long, yellow catkins before its leaves open, providing a fantastic spring display, followed by its fresh, lime-green , heart shaped foliage. In autumn its leaves turn a golden-yellow before falling, adding autumn interest to the space it is in. Once the leaves begin to turn, its Turkish Hazlenuts will be ready to pick and eat and are favoured by humans and wildlife alike. The Turkish Hazel is an ideal alternative to Lime, for planting an avenue. It can reach up to 18m tall at full maturity.
