Crataegus monogyna is a hardy, native tree, often planted to form a hedge in the countryside or wildlife friendly places. As a tree it is an unshapely, wild plant but can be pruned to size and shape. In spring it bears masses of clusters or small white flowers, ideal for pollinators. In autumn, red berries (haws) form and feed wildlife; particularly birds. They are hardy, robust plants that will grow in most conditions. Beware for spikes on the stems when planting and pruning.
