Magnolia 'Susan' is a brilliant choic of Magnolia for any garden with its smaller growing, compact habit and striking, fragrant, tulip-shaped, purple flowers in spring. Minimal pruning is required, only to remove dead or damaged wood, or to keep to shape. Plant Magnolias in a South or West facing position to avoid frosts on the flower buds in spring. However 'Susan' is actually a slightly later flowering variety therefore usually missing the frosts!
