Description

The Dawn Redwood is a stunning conifer making a large, narrowly conical tree reaching up to 25m in height. It has flat sprays of feathery, narrow, pale green leaves that turn brownish-pink and yellow in autumn before falling. Its bark is rough, fibrous, dark, mahogany-brown in colour and provides winter interest when the leaves have fallen. It requires a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade. It is infact endangered in the wild so if you have space for one in a large garden or space, then planting a Dawn Redwood would be helping to the survival of its species!
