Umbraculifera, as its name suggests, forms an umbrella-like shaped crown proving an excellent specimen tree or as part of a border for height and interest. Annual pruning keeps the trees shape, avoiding its natural tendency to form an umbellate shape (upside down umbrella shape). Leaves emerge late in spring but hold long into autumn before dropping. This tree comes with a 2m high clear stem, before the branches and foliage crown start. Ideal for creating a high feature, or to make an avenue of trees. The crown can reach up to 5-6m in height and width, but can be kept smaller by pruning. They perfer full sun in a well-drained soil.
