The truly majestic, evergreen, Giant Redwood or Giant Sequoia, originating from California, USA, can live for up to around 3,000 years. The oldest recorded is between 3,200–3,266 years old! Its evergreen coniferous foliage and reddish-brown, spongy bark, make it of interest all year round, along with cones in late Autumn. It has a conical form that can reach up to 80m in height and 10m wide. In 20 years they can reach 12m x 4m. They prefer moist, but well-drained soil and will tolerate full sun or partial shade.
