Quince makes the really delicous preserve or marmalade and can be added to pies, especially apple, adding an exquisite aromatic taste. The fruit are golden yellow, very fragrant, predominantly pear shaped and 5 - 7 inches long.  They should not be eaten raw.  The trees are hardy, bu appreciate a sheltered corner when grown in the North of the country.
