Bird Cherry (Prunus padus) is a native deciduous cherry which is fast growing. In May/June small white flowers appear after the foliage. Small, black cherries, which ripen around mid Summer, appear after the flowers . The foliage turns yellow in Autumn. Berries are favoured by blackbirds, song thrushes, badgers and mice. It is adaptable to a wide range of mostly well drained soils, which are in full sun / part shade.
