Acer palmatum dissectum 'Garnet' is a fantastic variety of Acer forming a domed shape ideal for providing interest beside ponds, overhanging walls or in pots. It will reach up to 1.5m tall x 3m wide. It bares feathery purple-red leaves throughout spring and summer before turning bright-red in autumn, before falling.

Japanese Maples typically prefer a dappled shade spot, with some shelter from winds. Planting in a full sun  position will result in scorching of the leaves which looks unattractive and can cause die back on the stems.
