A deciduous tree which has light-green leaves that are similar to beech, only shorter, softer and slightly curved at the tips. Leaves turn golden-yellow to orange in autumn and mostly stay on throughout winter providing seasonal interest and screening. Hornbeam forms a compact, neat, shape and because of that is often used as a hedging plant. Can grow up to 25m tall by 10m wide in its lifetime.
