'Stricta' is a much narrower shaped Hawthorn than the common Crataegus monogyna; with upward growing branches rather than spreading. It is still a small variety that will grow up to 6m in height by up to 2m in width. It is fantastic for wildlife with its white flowers in late spring, followed by an abundance of red berries in the autumn. Birds often use the dense thickets to nest in. A hardy tree that will grow in most conditions, particularly in well-drained soils.
